First Citizens Bank offers an exciting summer internship program that provides development opportunities and hands on work experience while creating a talent pipeline for the Bank. Our interns will apply classroom knowledge in a corporate environment while making a positive impact across the organization and the communities we serve. First Citizens Bank’s Equipment Finance division is looking for motivated students pursuing a career in sales to join our exciting 10-week business development internship. The program is designed to develop interns to high potential associates and future leaders by providing them with learning, development, and varied roles to provide critical foundational knowledge about our business and the industry.

Our team provides leasing and equipment financing solutions to thousands of small businesses, across various industries, nationwide. We provide financing solutions to our borrowers and lessees, and assist our vendor partnerships in growing sales, profitability, and customer loyalty by providing customized, value-added finance solutions to their client base.

Our cutting-edge technology platform allows small businesses to access financing through a highly automated credit approval, documentation, and funding process. Transactions range from $2,000 to $1M.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Prospect and Identify business opportunities using provided modeled existing customer database.
  • Document client conversations by recording activity and statistics on each outbound call; uphold standards for the minimum number of calls and talk time per day.
  • Be part of a dynamic team with interesting projects. Accountabilities can and may include areas such as research, analytics, projects, strategy, process review and improvement, as well as technology enhancements and support.
  • Attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking, and community service events.
  • Have a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and the internship program.
  • Be assigned a project, designed to improve a specific process, or solve a problem that you will present at the close of the internship.
  • Prepare a wrap-up presentation to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company to outline your accomplishments and experience during the internship.

Internship dates: 5/28/2025 - 8/01/2025

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience
  • Currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution (during time of summer program)
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively across business levels.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Possess a positive attitude, naturally curious and enjoys collaborating with others.
  • Strong Customer Service skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Salesforce / CRM experience strongly preferred.
  • Technologically savvy, experience with Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, PowerPoint, Word needed.
  • Client-focused, with the ability to adapt and adjust priorities based on business needs, able to multi-task, be proactive, and results-oriented.
