GENERAL PURPOSE:

As a Creative and Promotions Coordinator reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will be key in promoting Durango tourism through visually compelling content. Your responsibilities will focus on graphic design, photography, videography, motion graphics, and video production to create engaging content that captures the essence of Durango. From designing stunning visuals to producing high-quality videos, you’ll collaborate with other team members and industry partners to tell Durango’s story across digital and traditional platforms. This role is an exciting opportunity to use your creative talents to support our marketing goals and showcase Durango as a premier travel destination.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Regularly shoot, edit, and upload photo and video content
• Creation of graphic design materials, collateral, infographics, and SWAG
• Production of high-quality, publish-ready video content
• Assist with front-end website content updates
• Assist with motion graphics and 2D animation
• Assist with writing blogs, website copy, email campaigns, and print materials
• Assist with media itineraries and press kits
• Collaborate in the development of ad creative, copy, and taglines
• Attend and represent Visit Durango at local community events
• Attend and represent Visit Durango at committee and Board meetings as needed
• Work outside of regular business hours may be required for this position

EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Marketing, Graphic Design, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Communications, or Business or equivalent work experience in one or more of these fields.

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• 1-2 years of photography, videography, and/or graphic design experience
• Experience with the Adobe Suite
• Experience with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Suite
• Experience with AI content writing software
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Cultural sensitivity and commitment to advancing diversity, inclusion, and equity within Visit Durango and the tourism industry
• Highly organized with excellent time management skills
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Ability to be an innovative problem solver and work independently to drive program commitments
• Ability to be a team player and collaborate across all departments
• Ability to take initiative on research, training, and learning opportunities to be successful in the role

DAILY TASKS AND SCHEDULE:

• Monday to Friday schedule, blending office hours, fieldwork, and remote tasks from 9 AM to 5 PM
• Check-in with marketing and communication team members
• Attending and capturing content on a field photo and video shoot
• Editing and processing prior photo and video shoot assets
• Creating publish-ready video content for social media, ad platforms, or communications and sales team
• Creating collateral, flyers, stationary, signage, etc., as needed
• Creating media, sales, and consumer itineraries as needed
• Writing blog, website, or ad copy as needed
• Planning future photo and video shoots as needed
• Attending tourism-related or community events on behalf of marketing or communications

EMPLOYMENT PACKAGE:

Salary: $20-$23 per hour DOE

We are disclosing the compensation for this position in compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (EPEWA).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The candidate must be able to focus in an open workspace. The position requires hearing, talking, sitting, standing, walking stairs, and moving 25 lbs. or more. It also involves occasional domestic travel.

This role combines in-office work at our Durango, Colorado office and remote work.
