JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of People oversees the comprehensive administration and management of the People function, with a focus on critical areas such as recruitment, learning and development, team member engagement, labor relations, wage and benefit administration, work permit applications, and compliance with statutory requirements. This role is vital in equipping each department with the personnel, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their customer service and business objectives effectively. Additionally, the Director of People will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing team member relations, fostering a positive workplace culture that boosts employee satisfaction and performance across the organization. This position will be based in Nantucket and will provide support to all properties in Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Operational Management:
Oversee the daily operations of the People Department, ensuring efficient administration and support for all HR functions.
Manage the People system, including payroll processes, data entry, separations, and report generation.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:
Interview and evaluate candidates based on departmental needs, and actively participate in recruitment events to source talent.
Clearly communicate People processes to managers and staff, covering areas such as labor compliance, recruitment, staff relations, and performance reviews.
Employee Relations & Development:
Foster a positive work environment and lead initiatives to enhance team member engagement and relations.
Provide guidance and disciplinary support to colleagues, ensuring communication aligns with hotel policies.
Coordinate corporate and hotel learning initiatives, promoting continuous development and training for team members.
Plan and implement training programs, including orientation, diversity initiatives, and service standards, tailored to departmental needs.
Policy & Compliance:
Develop and implement HR policies and programs that maintain a positive and productive employment culture.
Ensure adherence to all labor laws and regulations, reviewing practices and communicating any changes effectively.
Compensation & Record Management:
Supervise staff on matters related to workers' compensation and ensure compliance with relevant policies.
Prepare budget forecasts for the People Department, aligning with organizational financial goals.
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all team member records and People files.
Additional Duties:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the SVP of People.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
EDUCATION
Four year college degree or 2 years of college and 4 years of work experience required.
EXPERIENCE
5 years Human Resources/People Department Head level experience required.
Two years of luxury hotel experience required.
