ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:

The News Department at Univision Chicago is seeking a creative and skilled Photographer/Editor to join our team! This role focuses on capturing and editing impactful visuals for newscasts and special projects. If you’re a passionate storyteller with expertise in non-linear editing, Adobe Creative Suite, and video production, we’d love to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity to create compelling stories in a dynamic and competitive market.

ABOUT YOU:

You’re a dedicated visual storyteller with a strong technical foundation in journalism, video production and editing. You thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments and are eager to collaborate with reporters and producers to craft compelling narratives.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

Cover news events on-site in all types of weather, capturing newsworthy visuals. Collaborate closely with reporters to produce engaging, high-quality stories for daily news and special projects. Edit video content for newscasts and special projects using Adobe Premiere and other non-linear editing tools. Assist in developing creative visuals and graphics for consumer content and long-term projects. Manage news feeds from various sources, ensuring timely delivery of content. Maintain and operate assigned photography gear and vehicles safely and effectively. Establish strong working relationships with producers, reporters and anchors to ensure accurate and informative stories.

YOU HAVE:

Required Skills & Experience: Degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and oral). In-depth knowledge of ENG practices and television news photography. Proficiency in using P2, XD cameras, and non-linear editing systems. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to drive daily. Ability to lift and carry broadcast equipment up to 50 pounds. Desired Skills & Experience: Strong storytelling abilities and creative problem-solving skills. Familiarity with the Chicago area and a deep sense of community involvement. Proven ability to work independently or with a reporter under tight deadlines. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift and carry broadcast equipment up to 50 pounds. Dexterity with video editing equipment, cameras, and newsroom computer systems.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Willingness to work from the Chicago, IL office. Employment and education verification. Authorization to work in the United States without restrictions.
