Job Description
Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Grant Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, researching, and securing grant funding opportunities for both the company and its customers. This role is crucial in preparing and submitting grant proposals, managing the application process, and ensuring compliance with all grant requirements.
Essential Functions - Identify and research federal, state, and private grant opportunities that align with company initiatives and fire department funding needs.
- Prepare and submit well-written, compelling grant proposals and applications that meet funding guidelines and eligibility requirements.
- Track submitted applications, manage deadlines, and ensure compliance with grant conditions, including reporting and documentation.
- Maintain a database of grant opportunities deadlines, submission requirements, and funding outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including finance, sales, and leadership, to gather necessary data for applications and financial reporting.
Additional Responsibilities - Evaluate and make recommendations on the most effective grant writing database to identify funding opportunities across all regions.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, funding opportunities, and government regulations affecting grants.
- Develop relationships with grant-making organizations, public agencies, and relevant stakeholders.
- Assist fire department customers in understanding eligibility requirements and completing grant applications.
- Support post-award grant management by ensuring proper fund allocation and compliance with spending guidelines.
- Provide periodic reports and presentations on grant activity, success rates and funding strategies.
Competencies - Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and CRM software.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
- Ability to translate complex requirements into clear, persuasive grant proposals.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements Work environment - Primarily in office.
- Periodic weekend or evening work as needed.
Physical demands - Up to 20lbs of force exerted occasionally.
- Up to 15lbs frequently
- Significant sitting
Travel Required. - Travel as needed to meet with funders and stakeholders as need
Required Education And Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Business, Public Administration, or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or a related field, preferably in manufacturing or public safety.
- Proven success in securing grants from government and private funding sources.
Preferred Education And Experience - Previous experience in working with fire departments or public safety organizations.
- Familiarity with FEMA Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) and other fire service funding programs.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting for grant applications
