Ventek Solutions is seeking a Packaging Engineer based in our Eau Claire, WI plant. The position will report to the Engineering Director and work daily with the Eau Claire Plant Manager and other cross-functional team members.

RESPONSBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

• Support engineering activity related to design, development, manufacturing and implementation of both custom designed solutions and customer provided requests.
• Work collaboratively with engineers from suppliers, customers and within Ventek to generate acceptable design solutions and/or Design for Manufacturing improvements.
• Complete and submit all applicable design release documentation to support new product launches or current product changes.
• Provide support to all areas (sales, mfg. data management, costing) throughout the entire Product Commercialization process.
• Must have a broad knowledge of the functionality, and performance characteristics of a variety of protective materials manufactured by Ventek Integrated Materials operations and the associated tooling. These materials include corrugated fiberboard, paper honeycomb, die cut foams, and wood pallets and crating.
• Must have a general knowledge of fabricated packaging production equipment. This includes corrugated and foam die cutters, foam skiver, saws, box making equipment, wire cutting, adhesives, and multi-material assembly techniques. Knowledge of processes, equipment, and assembly techniques for making wood pallets and crating is also a plus.
• Must have a clear understanding of the various package handling tests run to verify and validate proposed designs. Tests include Clamp, Compression, Incline, Drop, and Vibration.
• Must be capable of producing prototypes from standard wood shop equipment. This includes Table saws, band saws, planers, chop saws, hand drills, drill press, sanders, mills, etc.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Field, Packaging preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of related professional experience
• Candidates must be able to learn and work with 2D and 3D CAD programs (ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) to document and present design concepts, test results, and project status.
• Ability to travel as required to meet with customers, colleagues, and vendors (approximately 5% travel)
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Must be an effective communicator with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to self-manage projects and assignments to meet customer need dates and expectations.
• Capable of safely operating standard wood shop equipment. This equipment includes Table saws, band saws, planers, chop saws, hand drills, drill press, sanders, mills etc. Capable of operating or learning to operate sample cutting table.
