Job Description

Japanese automotive engineering company in Novi, Michigan office seeks a Japanese Bilingual Project Manager to lead engineering projects. Must have hands on experience with vehicle product development. We need someone who has experiences working for automotive product development at OEM/Tier1, so that we have mutual understanding/goal with our customers in pre-sales activities and projects.

Exempt position

9-5, M-F, some Domestic Business Travels

Main place of work: Novi, MI (main office); This is an in-office role

$105K plus bonus and full health benefits package and some relocation support.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

As the Project Manager in the engineering projects, the candidate will thrive to:

Proactively manage and lead the successful commercial and technical activities to make an engineering project successful, ensuring adherence to budget, timing, and quality.

Lead and perform the delivery of several tasks during the execution of the customer projects.

Learn new engineering concepts, equipment, software tools for successful delivery.

Create written reports (MS Word/PowerPoint) for the project status and new proposals.

Communicate with customers, with support from the supervisor and team.

Propose proactively in engineering projects towards expansion of the business.

POSITION IN ORGANIZATION

Occasional business travels expected in the US (Primarily local day-trips, Overnight trips: 1-4 days per trip / 0-1 trips per month)

At external project sites in the US, during project period Customer sites in MI (driving distance from the main office)

Working conditions: Approximately 40 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

8+ years of professional engineering experience. Very strong foundational engineering skills.

Must Have:

Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronic Product Development Experience.

Previous Experience as an Application Engineer or Design & Release Engineer for the entire continuous V-cycle (Concept to SOP).

Experience and understanding of CAD/CAE/FEA, mechanical/electrical design

The ability to manage suppliers and timelines.

The ability to work directly with customers as the primary contact point.

The ability to think strategically and create proposals/solutions to address customer pain points..

Nice to Have:

Additional engineering experience in one or more: ADAS/AD, Battery/Electrification, Software Defined Vehicle (SDV), Embedded Software Development, ASPICE, Cybersecurity, Functional Safety, CAN Signal Processing, Data Analytics, Production Environment, Project Management

Knowledge of Automotive integration efforts, processes, new technologies and trends in the Autonomous space.

OEM and Tier1 experience

EDUCATION

Bachelor degree in Engineering. Computer Science, Software, Mechanical, Electrical

Master’s Degree and/or MBA (Nice to have)
