Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience building modern JavaScript applications and frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
• Minimum 7+ years of software development with scalable distributed microservice application (Java/Javascript/SpringBoot)
• Proven experience integrating web applications with GraphQL and/or REST APIs
• Be a hands-on engineer spending significant percentage of their time writing code or debugging tricky issues
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Proficiency in Computer Science fundamentals – object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
• Position may require occasional travel
• Experience in e-commerce
• Experience with configuration and deployment management via Terraform or Ansible and hands-on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience
• Experience with Typescript and GraphQL
• Familiarity with Test driven development, Jest and Cypress
• Familiarity with AWS

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior technical member of a newly formed engineering team building the ads platform
• Hold a high bar for the quality of the architecture and design of systems
• Drive innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development
• Guide and mentor junior engineers to deliver the best quality code through design and code reviews
• Decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions that operationally scale and are easily maintained
• Instill engineering excellence in the team and focus on scalability, resiliency, high availability, and performance of applications
• Actively mentor engineers, build and foster a strong engineering team culture, and be a key contributor in raising the bar of the engineering organization
• Generate and analyze engineering metrics to inform leadership and make data-driven decisions
• Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication and convey dissenting opinions in a constructive manner

Chewy is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join the founding team focused on launching customer-facing products that will delight and engage partners everywhere. This role is for a Sr. Software Engineer with full-stack expertise. As an early member of the Sponsored Advertising team, you’ll be part of a core team that will influence technical strategy across Chewy's retail website, advertiser portal, and user and vendor experience. You’ll be at the forefront of delivering technology-driven business impact.

• Experience with Typescript and GraphQL
• Familiarity with Test driven development, Jest and Cypress
• Familiarity with AWS
