Job Description

The Department of Mathematics at Lincoln Memorial University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in Computer Science. The candidate must have earned a PhD in Computer Science. The primary teaching responsibilities for this position may include introductory computer science courses as well as courses on artificial intelligence, network security, and software engineering. This instructional faculty member shall also have responsibilities of teaching, research/creative achievement, and service functions and shall be held accountable for these obligations as they contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, the School, and the Department.







Required Qualifications

earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or appropriate related discipline; *educational preparation in accordance with requirements of the University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and *evidence of potential for effective teaching and scholarly activity.

demonstrate current knowledge of discipline content and assist the department chair with curricular revisions and changes as requested

appropriately align course syllabi goals and objectives to academic major program goals and student outcomes for each course taught

develop a current syllabus for each assigned class and distribute a course syllabus to each student

submit a current copy of each syllabus to the department chair by a predetermined deadline

evaluate enrolled students and submit grades to the Registrar by a predetermined deadline

requisition instructional materials and supplies through the department chair

assure completion of the student course evaluation instrument for the semester as requested

participate in the faculty evaluation process and use the results to improve teaching and strengthen the major

establish and maintain the resources of the academic department, the school, and the University

submit to department chair his/her semester schedule that indicates weekly teaching assignment, office/conference hours and involvement in university, school and department councils or committees

effectively advise assigned students in an individualized educational plan for their program of study and maintain an accurate and current academic file for each advisee
