Position Overview
We are seeking a Controller with expertise in construction accounting, billing processes, lien waivers, and union financial reporting. This role requires hands-on financial management and a key focus on overseeing all aspects of accounting while supporting the company’s operational and strategic goals. The role also includes managing general office operations and ensuring smooth day-to-day administrative processes.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions, including billing, lien waivers , financial statements, general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, and payroll.
Ensure compliance with union reporting requirements and certified payroll administration .
Manage and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting.
Collaborate with project managers to handle construction-specific financial tasks , such as budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
Streamline billing processes and ensure timely submission of lien waivers for construction projects.
Provide guidance on union-related financial matters, including benefit administration and labor costs.
Implement and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Supervise and support office management tasks, ensuring the effective coordination of day-to-day operations.
Partner with external auditors to ensure compliance and successful audit results.
Drive process improvements within accounting and administrative operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (CPA or CMA preferred).
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting , with at least 3 years in construction or labor union-related industries .
Strong understanding of construction-specific financial practices, including lien waivers and certified payroll.
Proficiency in union reporting and benefit administration.
Advanced skills in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) .
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and oversee office operations.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with contractors, unions, and external stakeholders.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
