A stagehand, also known as a stage technician, helps with the technical aspects of theatrical, television, and film productions. Stagehands set up and maintain equipment, move scenery and props, and assist with lighting, sound, and video. 

Responsibilities

• Setting up : Follow production plans to set up stages, rigging, and scenery 

• Operating equipment : Control fly systems, and operate sound, video, and lighting equipment 

• Moving set pieces : Help carpenters build and put up scenery, and move furniture and heavy equipment 

• Cleaning : Clean and maintain equipment, and clear the stage and backstage areas 

• Troubleshooting : Solve problems with electrical equipment 

• Attending rehearsals : Participate in rehearsals and performances 

• Loading and unloading : Move equipment in and out of trucks, and push road cases 

Qualifications Physical stamina, Strong communication skills, Ability to follow instructions, Ability to work in different weather conditions, and Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment. 

While formal education isn't required, more specialized roles may require formal education and experience. 

Audiovisual (AV) technicians  set up and run the sound and video equipment used to conduct live events such as meetings, sports games, business conventions, and concerts . They mix soundboards, play video recordings, enhance lighting, and coordinate media throughout shows.
